This year’s spring dance will be a SPRING FLING! After the voting on twitter it will be a girls ask guys dance.78\54785785 It will be on Saturday, March 23 from 8pm to 11pm in the cafeteria. Bring a date, bring a friend, bring yourself for a fun night! Tickets will be sold during lunch the week of the dance for $5 a person.
The Maquoketa School District is now participating in a marker recycling program. Starting today you can give any old dried out markers to your teacher instead of throwing them in the trash and your teacher will put them in a box that will be located in the teacher’s lounge to be recycled. This program includes ANY markers…Crayola, Expo, Sharpies, etc. Thanks for your participation!!
There will be a recognition assembly/pep rally during GST on Tuesday, February 12.
Any student wishing to participate in this year’s physics competition, see Mrs. Quinlan for dates and rules. You do not need to be currently enrolled in physics!! Competition events include catapults, mousetrap cars, soda straw arms, bridge building, and the “challenge problem”!
Any student interested in the chemistry olympics at Loras College, see Miss Althoff for dates and information. Students will compete on a team of 4-5 students. Registration has to be submitted by Friday, Feb. 15th! There will be a trivia section, lab section and a free lunch provided by Loras.
CAGE News:
- If you haven’t turned in New York check, get that to Mrs. Krum or Miss Althoff ASAP.
- Individual speech students need to see Mrs. Krum or Miss Althoff for speech rehearsals at least TWICE this week!
- Conference is Monday, Feb. 18th at Dewitt
- Sign up with Krum for: storytelling, acting, public address, poetry, prose, improv.
- Sign up with Althoff for: reviewing, radio news, expository address, improv. and others
- Stop into Mrs. Krum’s room to get Speech/Pasta Night Posters to hang around town
Join CAGE for a speech and pasta night on Monday, February 25th. Pasta will be served at 6pm in the high school cafeteria, with large group and individual speech performances at 7pm in the LMC. It is a free will -donation. Come watch some amazing speeches!

Thursday Feb. 14th, Student Senate will be handing out Hush Hearts. Student Senate members will be set up by the front and back doors handing ladies their hearts Thursday morning. Remember the first boy you talk to in the hallway or during lunch gets your “heart” for the day! You can talk to boys during class. Please participate and have fun!
